Yanick is a Swiss film composer living and working in Basel. A core element of his work is the collaboration with live musicians, as he believes their performance makes his music authentic and creates a connection to the listener. Working with modular synthesizers, he explores systems within systems to experiment with where sonorities meet, merge or diverge.
His work includes music for many short films, advertisement and documentaries. His most recent works include the composition for Stefania Burla’s short film
Nest and Luka Popadić’s documentary
Echte Schweizer. Currently he’s working on the music for Lola Scurlock’s documentary film
Dans ces eaux-là and Hanna Seidel’s feature film
Liebe, Torso, Space.
At the moment he is composing his first solo EP, Blooming, for string sextet and electronics.He also co-writes experimental pop with the band
JODOQ and is an assistant to the composer
Balz Bachmann.
